San Francisco Giants third-round pick in 2014 Dylan Davis is heating up in Salem-Keizer after a sluggish start. The corner outfielder homered for the third consecutive game on Thursday night.
Davis is playing professional ball with the Volcanoes less than an hour away from where he starred at Oregon State University in Corvallis.
Davis is still hitting just .191 since arriving in Salem but his power surge is a welcome sight. He now has hits in five straight games after only registering two in his first eight games.
Ryder Jones and Aramis Garcia also hit home runs for the Volcanoes. Thursday night's game was the second game back for Jones, who was returning to the lineup after fouling a ball off his foot and missing four games.
—Keury Mella made what could be his last rehab start with the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes, striking out six over four, one-run innings. Mella has been stellar, pitching 10 innings and allowing just one earned run in four outings.
—Juan Perez hit his fourth home run in his last six games in the first game of Fresno's doubleheader.
—Ty Blach rebounded nicely from a rough start last week with a near-scoreless outing for the Richmond Flying Squirrels. After uncharacteristically allowing five walks on August 15 at Portland, Blach took the mound again and threw 6.2 innings with no walks and just one earned run. Blach's ERA sits at a very respectable 3.30 through 23 starts.
