Beede debuts in Salem, Cole hits two homers

The debut season for Tyler Beede continued Tuesday night in Spokane, Wash. as the Giants first-round pick from this year's draft made his first start since being called up to the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes. The right-hander pitched three scoreless innings before allowing an earned run in the fourth. In total, he pitched three and two-thirds innings and allowed five hits and one walk while striking out two.

In four starts with the AZL Giants, Beede struck out 11 over eight and two-thirds innings with a 3.42 ERA.

Beede's new teammate and fellow 2014 draftee Hunter Cole had a big night at the plate, going 2-for-4 with his second and third home runs of the season. The third baseman is batting .278 in 21 games with the Volcanoes. 

—With a triple on Tuesday night, Tyler Horan is still maintaining an impressive slugging percentage (.613) through his first 80 at-bats with the San Jose Giants. 

—Right-hander Dan Slania has a 0.90 ERA through his first 10 innings since joining the Richmond Flying Squirrels from Augusta.
