Ragira stays hot with five-hit night

San Jose Giants first baseman Brian Ragira has been having a career month. He entered Wednesday night's game with a .309/.397/.655 line in August, and proceeded to raise all those averages in a huge 13-0 win for the Giants.

Ragira picked up five hits, including a double and a grand slam — his 19th home run of the year.

—Salem-Keizer Volcanoes outfielder Austin Slater hit his first career home run as a professional as part of a 3-2 win in Spokane over the Indians. The Stanford product has a .314 average and 20 RBIs in 25 games.

Chase Johnson dealt today for the Augusta GreenJackets, striking out nine over seven scoreless innings.

—Grizzlies catcher Trevor Brown is quietly doing a great job filling in for Andrew Susac in Fresno. Though he is splitting time with Guillermo Quiroz, Brown has picked up 19 hits in 18 games and owns a .310 average in 62 at-bats. Brown began the year in San Jose but has been called up multiple times to Fresno when the team was in need of a catcher.
