Flores shines, then exits with shoulder soreness

Giants top-20 prospect Kendry Flores exited Wednesday night's ballgame with shoulder soreness after pitching three solid innings for the San Jose Giants. According to the team's radio broadcaster, Joe Ritzo, Flores is expected to miss at least his next scheduled start.

Flores has been pitching well of late as his outings have yielded a 1.65 ERA and 0.91 WHIP in his last 27.1 innings.

The Giants picked up two wins in a doubleheader against the Bakersfield Blaze, and had standout performances from closer Bryce Bandilla, who struck out the side, and catcher Ben Turner, who had two doubles among four total hits.

Other Notable Performances: Luis Ysla struck out seven in five innings for the GreenJackets as the left-hander continued his dominance of South Atlantic League hitters. The opposition has hit just .228 off the 22-year-old in 2014, including a .198/.290/.256 line for all left-handed hitters.

Hunter Strickland upped his consecutive innings streak without allowing a walk to 16.2 innings with a perfect ninth inning on Wednesdady night for the Flying Squrriels. He has 24 strikeouts over the same stretch.

Box Scores: Richmond, San Jose (Game 1), San Jose (Game 2), Augusta, DSL Giants
