Parker homers again, Carbonell shines in debut

Jarrett Parker is making a great first impression with his new team. Since joining the Triple-A squad, Parker has hit two home runs in three games, including a late-inning grand slam on Thursday and a solo shot on Friday, also in the eighth inning, to bring his Fresno Grizzlies within one. Parker is building upon a strong July where the corner outfielder hit .330 and slugged .571 for the Richmond Flying Squirrels.

The San Jose Giants game featured a walk-off single (would have been double) from Tyler Horan. But the game's story belonged to the runner that crossed the plate to win the game — Daniel Carbonell. The Cuban center fielder was promoted early on Friday and arrived in time to make the starting lineup, where he would bat leadoff. He went 3-for-4 with three singles and a caught stealing, though he did easily steal a base in the sixth that didn't count because Chuckie Jones struck out. His aggressiveness on the base paths combined with his plus speed should be fun to watch over the next few years, especially with how much San Jose manager Lenn Sakata likes to run.

Other Notable Performances: Stephen Johnson picked up his seventh win out of the bullpen during San Jose's walk off win. The (sort-of) side-arming righty pitched two scoreless innings in relief of Matt Lujan, striking out three along the way.

Skyler Ewing continues to pile up the walks while refraining from striking out. After drawing two walks in last night's Volcanoes game, he now has 24 walks to just 15 strikeouts in 141 plate appearances.

Stetson Woods has pitched 7.2 scoreless innings since beginning his professional career. He got in for 2.1 innings in Friday night's AZL game, striking out three and giving up just one hit.

Box Scores: Fresno, Richmond, San Jose, Salem-Keizer, AZL Giants, DSL Giants
