Davis homers for fourth time in seven games

One would figure, knowing the differences between the South Atlantic League and the California League, that if Dylan Davis was able to hit eight home runs and slug almost .500 in the Sally, then surely he would explode for even more impressive numbers when promoted to the west coast.

So far, he's hit seven home runs in just 89 plate appearances, including Thursday night's solo shot down the left field line. It puts him just one shy of his Augusta GreenJackets total of eight, which he totaled in 269 plate appearances. He had an 11.2 percent walk rate in Augusta, but hasn't quite continued that pace so far with the Giants, having drawn just two walks in 21 games.

Overall, Davis is really having a stellar year, with an wOBA sitting at .382 and a wRC+ climbing to 139, to go along with a modest 20.1 percent strikeout rate, which is an encouraging five-percent dip from a year ago.

OTHER NOTES

Steven Duggar's four-hit game was one of two highlights from Thursday night's Richmond Flying Squirrels contest. Since joining the team, in 85 plate appearances, Duggar's strikeouts have dipped by almost nine percent, while his walks have also dipped, but by just six percent.

Kyle Crick pitched well, finishing the seventh inning for just the second time since August 2013. He struck out seven and walked just one. His 107 pitches and 68 strikes were both season-highs.

Bryan Reynolds hit his third pro home run, continuing his fabulous start where his slash line consistently hovers near the always-great .300/.400/.500 mark.

— With 10 hits in his last 16 plate appearances, Jose Vizcaino, Jr. is certainly on quite a roll over the last four games. Half of those ten hits are for extra bases, including his first two triples of the season in Thursday night's game.
