Heathcott hits third home run in two days

Slade Heathcott is having his best minor league season since he broke out in the New York Yankees' system in 2012, slashing .307/.378/.470 with 17 stolen bases in 243 plate appearances for the Advanced A-ball Tampa Yankees. That season, he posted a 142 wRC+. and through 208 plate appearances this season, his third full season in Double-A, he has posted 137 wRC+.

On Thursday, he hit his third home run in his last two games to bring his season total to 10, which leads the Flying Squirrels squad by four. He's also added 10 doubles, making his isolated slugging percentage .218 — by far his highest mark with this large of a sample size.

I can't imagine the Giants will keep Heathcott, who is approaching 700 career plate appearances in Double-A, down in Richmond for too much longer.

Heath Quinn clubbed his sixth home run of the season for San Jose, and he has only recorded 89 plate appearances. His ISO through his first 21 games is just four ticks below .300.

Bryan Reynolds has a 16-game hitting streak going, featuring an insane 27 hits. Seven of those 27 are extra-base hits, including four doubles, two triples, and one home run. Dating back to the beginning of May — 133 plate appearances — Reynolds owns a .850 OPS with an 18.8 percent strikeout rate.

— Striking out seven and walking none for Richmond on Thursday was left-hander Matt Gage. He's having a similar year to 2016 in the strikeout and walk categories, though opposing hitters are averaging 30 points higher in 2017.
