Mejia, who is currently the No. 3-ranked prospect in the San Francisco Giants' organization, has had a weary time thus far pitching in Double-A after an eye-opening 2013 season with the San Jose Giants. After posting a 3.31 ERA in 16 starts with the club's Class-A Advanced affiliate, Mejia's first 15 outings with the Flying Squirrels have netted a 5.90 mark, including a 1.507 WHIP. While Mejia's walk numbers appear to be similar, the native of the Dominican Republic is averaging 3.3 more hits per nine innings than a season ago.
Mejia was part of a group of young pitching talent that transferred together from last year's San Jose rotation, including right-handers Kyle Crick and Clayton Blackburn, as well as lefties Ty Blach and Kelvin Marte.
There is currently no time table for his return.
