23-year-old Daniel Carbonell signed with the San Francisco Giants on June 16, then made his pro debut on July 28 with the Arizona rookie team. Now Carbonell has been transferred to the San Jose Giants, the organization's Advanced-A ball affiliate, according to the team's radio broadcaster Joe Ritzo.
The speedy Cuban center fielder played in 10 games with the AZL Giants, collecting 11 hits, including three doubles and a home run, which came in last night's ballgame.
He will start Friday night's game in San Jose in center field and bat in the leadoff spot.
Carbonell showed plus speed and a quick right-handed bat with the AZL squad, hitting the ball to all sides of the field.
Though it had previously been reported that he was a switch-hitter, Carbonell has been batting exclusively from the right side.
