I spent three days sweating in the Arizona sun, alongside baseball players who actually work in the heat all summer if the AZL is their home. It always makes me appreciate even more the daily grind of a minor leaguer, especially those in the rookie leagues.
The freshest talent in the San Francisco Giants' system were on display as the 2016 AZL season began Monday, whether it was a brand new draft selection or a Dominican Summer League player making it in the United States for the first time. I captured as much video as I could, and here is virtually everything I was able to record. The talent was impressive, from the quick, strong hands of Heath Quinn to the polished, commanding breaking ball of Sandro Cabrera.
(Stay tuned for an updated version of this story. I will add my thoughts on the player alongside each video. For now, here's simply the footage.)
