As a weekly reminder of who's doing good things down in the minors, Giant Potential will name a "Prospect of the Week" every Thursday afternoon, along with a few honorable mentions, highlighting the best of San Francisco Giants hopefuls. It's week four, and it's now May. One month into the season and one Giants' prospect has left the first half of April behind him. Breaking out of a slump in a huge way, it Richmond's corner outfielder Hunter Cole.
OF, Hunter Cole

- Hometown: Moore, S.C.
- Height/Weight: 6'1", 190 lbs
- Drafted: 2014, 26th round

How do you break out of a 3-for-38 slump that featured a strikeout in 30.9% of plate appearances? If you're Hunter Cole, who is no stranger to uber-hot months, you stroke eight doubles in a span of 11 games. Cole, if you remember, went crazy last June. He slugged .653 in 28 games (107 plate appearances) in a month that featured 10 doubles and seven home runs.
Cole hasn't really gotten the long ball going so far in 2017, but eight doubles in 11 games (41 plate appearanes) is an insane rate. One out of every five times Cole has stepped to the plate since April 19, Cole has recorded a two-bagger. Cole has a hit in each of those 11 games, too, so he's rocking a nice streak at the moment.
In this previous week, Cole collected four of those eight doubles, and added a triple, as well. It's all helped to raise his slash line from the depths into a respectable region. He's now .244/.307/.410 this season, and .273/.323/.430 in 809 total plate appearances at the Double-A level. That might lead you to believe Cole is destined for Sacramento at some point in 2017.
