Q&A with Salem-Keizer pitcher Pat Young

Pat Young wasn’t the first pitcher taken by the San Francisco Giants in the 2013 draft in June. He wasn’t the second. Heck, he wasn’t even in the top five arms the Giants selected. But the 13th-rounder from Villanova has more than impressed the Salem-Keizer staff in his first four starts, allowing zero earned runs in his first 19.1 innings pitched for the  Volcanoes.

Young was one of five Salem-Keizer players I sat down with this week. He told me about the importance of his performance in the Cape Cod League before June’s draft, his pitch repertoire and even clarified his actual height (Hint: He’s 6’7″, not 6’5″).
